Sonya Lodge Residential Care Home residents take a seaside trip

A seaside trip to Deal

On Wednesday 9 August we took a group of our residents from Sonya Lodge Residential Care Home on a road trip to the seaside.

We set off bright and early and when we arrived we firstly enjoyed a sunny walk down the seafront; we then hydrated ourselves at the beach cafe with pots of tea and cold glasses of water.

By then everyone was feeling a bit peckish so we of course we had to get fish and chips by the sea so we found a lovely shop and ordered our food! We all tucked into to a super portion of fish, chips and tartar sauce.

Next, we took a stroll down Deal pier which had gorgeous views; the skies were clear, the sea was blue and the atmosphere was idyllic. After a little while of sunning ourselves we all found a bit of room for some ice cream, of course you can’t go to the seaside without getting a Mr Whippy with a chocolate flake (of course!).

To end our beautiful day in Deal we leisurely walked back to our transport and soaked up all of our surroundings. We all got back on the Mini Bus and took a stunning drive back through the countryside of Faversham.

It also happened to be our wonderful resident’s, Rosina’s birthday! What a fabulous way to spend a birthday! One of residents said it was “An absolutely magical day” and we would all have to agree.

A special well done to our driver, Jo, also our wonderful activity lead! Thank you Jo!
