Sonya Lodge Residential Care Home residents enjoy their local community

Our Sonya Lodge Residential Care Home residents love getting out and about and visiting some of their favourite places in our local community. Last week some of them visited the pub, the local farmer’s market and popped out to pick up a coffee.

Ray ventured out to our local pub, The Plough. He was keen to see what was on offer and spend some quality time with our team members on a one-to-one basis. We began our trip with lots of laughs on the minibus (especially when using the accessibility tail lift together!) and listening to jazz music. Once we arrived at the pub, Ray ordered his drink and some crisps. We then explored the various seating areas until he found his favourite spot.

Olga, Teresa and Joan headed out together to visit the weekly Wilmington Farmer’s Market. They looked around to discover what local produce was on sale and then sat together for a hot drink and slice of scrumptious homemade cake. It was a wonderful opportunity for the ladies to have a good catch up and chat together and with some of our friends from the local community.

Rosina loves a good cup of coffee and asked our Activities Team if they could take her out to pick one up; we were very happy to oblige! Jo and Rosina set off to Costa Coffee and Rosina ordered her favourite drink and opted to enjoy it ‘on the go’ rather than drinking in. This quick and easy community trip meant the world to Rosina on this day and it was lovely that we were able to make this happen for her.
