Traditionally celebrated the Sunday before Christmas, our local Church near Sonya Lodge Residential Care Home celebrates Christingle on the third Sunday in January, with candles and messages of hope.
Our residents enjoyed decorating oranges with ribbons, candles, sweets and dried fruits and loved singing some hymns with fellow members of the community. A short story about the history of Christingle was told and then the lights were turned off and candles lit.
It was a lovely way to bookend Christmas and wrap it up for another year, with such a beautiful local event. Everyone at The Lodge is incredibly grateful for our local community, which is always full of spirit and kindness.
