Every week, Jean from St Michaels Church joins us at Sonya Lodge Residential Care Home to provide a worship and praise service for our residents.
Lots of our ladies and gents follow the Christian faith but due to their changing needs find it challenging to attend church services. Jean provides us with a short service that includes prayer, a bible reading, a short multi-sensory sermon, and lots of Christian hymns and songs.
It is so important to meet the religious and spiritual needs of those in our care, and this fully accessible service definitely does this for many of our residents.
This week Jean focused on the comparison between God and the wind; she explained that you can’t see God and the wind but you can feel them and see the effects of them, and used a variety of props to illustrate this to our residents, which they really engaged with.
