Elvis Presley’s birthday is on the 8th of January and we celebrate his special day every year here at Sonya Lodge Residential Care Home as we are all big fans of the ‘King of Rock n’ Roll’.
Our residents spent the morning playing Elvis-themed bingo, which was a big hit, especially as we had chocolatey treats as prizes (of course!).
In the afternoon, we had a visit from the man himself! Jo, our Recreation and Well-Being Lead, dressed the part (even the wig!) and we had a fantastic singalong and a dance. We sang all Elvis’ greatest hits and thoroughly enjoyed lots of reminiscing about the 50s, music and the memories that come with certain songs.
It was a lovely day full of laughter and fun, and the atmosphere was electric – we can’t wait for next year!
