Remembering Roxi at Sonya Lodge Residential Care Home

Last week at Sonya Lodge Residential Care Home, we lost our beloved resident dog, Roxi. Roxi shared 10 years with us all at The Lodge, giving love, affection and happiness to our residents and team members.

Our brilliant Business Support Officer, Amanda rescued Roxi and she would roam around Sonya Lodge looking for her next cuddle and always finding it!

Roxi offered companionship throughout hard times, such as during the pandemic. She always managed to put a smile on everyone’s face, with her calming presence, beaming joy and reassurance.

If Amanda couldn’t find Roxi then she would normally locate her in the loving arms of a resident or in one of her spots, or our Home Manager Ami’s, office.

She was a loving dog who enjoyed the company of many, but her ‘person’ was definitely Amanda; Roxi would come running at the sound of Amanda calling her, and the first person Roxi would look for in a room was always Amanda. When she was not having cuddles with our residents, she would be snoozing in her tartan bed under Amanda’s desk.

Roxi will be greatly missed by everyone. She had an immense impact on Sonya Lodge and brought so much sunshine to us all. She will never be forgotten and will always be part of our Home family.

We all commend Amanda for the absolutely outstanding life she gave her best friend, Roxi.
