Here are some of the activities we have been getting up to at Sonya Lodge Residential Care Home in the last week:
We started with some water painting – a popular activity here at the Lodge. Our painting mats are from the brand ‘Relish’ who create stimulating activities for those with dementia. For this activity all you need is water; our residents can go to town with the water and beautiful vibrant images will appear. When finished, you simply leave them to dry and then they can be enjoyed all over again. Perfect!
Next, we enjoyed a touch of pampering! Another very popular pastime here at our Home. We have many residents that love to have a good pamper and last week our day was dedicated to manicures. Our gorgeous ladies picked out a colour and had the full works done, including a hand massage.
Later that day was some time reminiscing with our memory box. Our ladies and gents were looking at some issues of The Daily Sparkle magazine and we did some of the quizzes. We also enjoyed looking at old copies of newspapers and an old ration book.
These were all enjoyable activities, with a relaxing element to them.
