On Monday 18 December, it was time for our Christmas party here at Sonya Lodge Residential Care Home, which we were all very excited about!
We all spent the morning getting in the party mood by putting up the last of our decorations and listening to Christmas music, but 2pm soon rolled around!
Our residents’ lovely families soon starting arriving and then the amazing ‘Chellabella’ came to sing for us all. She sang a whole range of music including 60s, Elvis and of course some Christmas classics. She even sang the ‘hokey cokey‘ and a whole group of our team members and residents danced the routine together – some even did it seated, which was impressive!
Nellsar’s Recreation and Well-Being Manager Viv paid us a visit and it didn’t take long until she was up dancing in her sparkly gold jumper! We also had a special visitor, Father Christmas, who came bearing gifts and each of our residents received a lovely little present with sweets in.
After a good dance and sing along, everyone tucked into a delicious buffet with scrumptious Scotch eggs, different finger sandwiches, crisps, cheeses, mini pizzas, chicken kievs, sausage rolls and more! And to finish, an impressive Christmas-themed cake, smothered in freshly whipped cream and adorned with sugar sprinkles.
As per tradition, our Sonya Lodge Christmas-themed raffle prizes were up for grabs – three fabulous hampers filled with festive goodies, two bottles of wine, and a giant husky teddy! Our Resident Liaison Nikki won a hamper, our Activities Lead Jo’s family member won a hamper, two of our resident’s family members won a hamper and a bottle, and lastly, Carer Bob won the huge Husky!
It was an amazing day, filled with festive fun, and we can safely say we’re all ready for the ‘big day’ now! A special thank you to our residents’ families for joining us for this sensational celebration.
