This week we hosted our very own Bake Off to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support here at Sonya Lodge Residential Care Home. Our residents and team members worked hard to prepare a variety of baked goods, ready for our judges, Chantelle and Lou, to taste test.
Our delectable entries were:
- Coffee cake by Chef Marshall.
- Jammy crumble squares by Dining Assistant Lucy.
- Banana cake by Manager John.
- Choca Mocha cake by Well-being Champion Deanne.
- Lemon and blueberry cake by our residents Russell and Frank. Together, they chose the flavours, lovingly mixed the ingredients for baking, and decorated their cake with lemon icing and delicate iced flowers.
- Old school sprinkle sponge cake by our other residents.
The cakes were beautifully displayed before we all enjoyed sampling them with a hot drink – what a treat!
We’re thrilled to announce that the winners of our Bake Off were Frank and Russell, with Frank proudly accepting the coveted Star Baker wooden spoon. Huge congratulations to them both!
It was such a fun and delicious morning. A big thank you to all our talented bakers for their fantastic efforts – handshakes all round!
