Sonya Lodge Residential Care Home take tea at Dartford College

Christmas Afternoon Tea

On Tuesday 12 December a small group of residents form Sonya Lodge Residential Care Home headed out to Dartford Science and& Technology College (DSTC) who kindly invited us to their annual Christmas Afternoon tea.

Victoria (Recreation and Well-Being) and Amber (Healthcare Assistant) accompanied four of our residents to the festive do. We arrived at 12pm and were greeted by a gorgeous table spread filled with Christmas crackers, sparkles, bingo cards, raffle tickets and a vibrant red poinsettia plant.

We were soon served with afternoon tea towers full of delicious homemade food including sausage rolls, a selection of finger sandwiches, and bread rolls to start. To follow on, we enjoyed scones, lemon cakes, mince pies, Christmas cake and French fancies all washed down with an abundance of tea and coffee! Our residents also enjoyed a tipple of sherry.

Throughout the day, the talented students of DSTC performed various acts such as singing, dancing and acting, and there was an amazing pianist. Our residents absolutely loved all the performances and couldn’t stop smiling. In-between, we all enjoyed a game of bingo and then a raffle to which our residents won the poinsettia that was on our table!

This was a wonderful experience for our ladies, as they socialised with students, staff and other invitees. Overall, we were honoured to be invited to this occasion and it filled us all with Christmas spirit ready for the big day.

A great big “Thank you” to DSTC – their organisers, their staff and their students.
