Takeaway Club
During some recent chats with our residents here at Sonya Lodge Residential Care Home, it came to light that several were missing tucking into an occasional takeaway dinner. They told us how they used to love having a special treat every now and then, when they would dig out the menu from their favourite takeaway restaurant and enjoy selecting dishes.
After hearing this, our team decided to bring that joy back by introducing a monthly Takeaway Club. We asked everyone about their favourite cuisines and grouped them by preference – and this month it was time for a Chinese and Indian feast!
Our team took orders for local restaurants and transformed our lounge into a cosy mini restaurant for the evening. The aroma of noodles, rice, curries and spices filled the air as residents tucked into their dishes, chatting together over a shared love of their chosen cuisine. Yum!
Tabletop sale
We also hosted our first tabletop sale recently, and it was a huge success! We invited our team members, families and friends of Sonya Lodge to donate items, and were overwhelmed by their generosity. From books, toiletries and accessories to clothes, ornaments and homeware, the tables were bursting with treasures.
On the day, our residents were given special vouchers to ‘spend’ on any items that caught their eye. Everyone had so much fun browsing through the items and treasures on offer. It was wonderful to see the excitement as our residents went on an in-house shopping spree!
