Our residents at Sonya Lodge Residential Care Home have been enjoying learning about different cultures and countries. So far we have celebrated the national days for England, Wales, Ireland, Portugal and Italy. We have also celebrated Greek Easter and Scotland’s Burns Night.
On Friday 14 July we celebrated Bastille Day, the National Day of France. Our residents had a French-themed breakfast and coffee morning together. They enjoyed their morning French pastries with some fantastic conversations and attempts at speaking French, whilst listening to French music.
In the afternoon everyone took part in a French food tasting activity. Our residents loved trying some of the culinary delights that France has to offer – croissants, pain au chocolat, crepes, a selection of French cheeses, baguette and French wines.
We all thoroughly enjoyed celebrating France’s national day and are looking forward to exploring more countries and cultures together.
