Macmillan cheque presentation at Sonya Lodge Residential Care Home

Last week at Sonya Lodge Residential Care Home we were delighted to present a cheque to Macmillan Cancer Research for £1,079 from our Nellsar Homes.

This was the money residents and staff across Nellsar had raised from their amazing fundraising efforts in the autumn. From charity bake sales, coffee mornings and several walkathons, staff and residents across the Group helped to raise £1,079 for Macmillan Cancer Support and £3,856 for the Alzheimer’s Society – half of which was matched by Nellsar’s Managing Director, Martin Barrett.

Joy Sanders from Macmillan came to Sonya Lodge to receive the cheque on behalf of the charity, from our Manager Ami Barrington-Hunt, Operations and Compliance Manager Jacqui Shuttleworth, Well-Being Lead Jo Richards, Recreation and Well-Being Manager Viv Stead and our lovely resident Pauline.

Viv commented:
“Everyone associated with Nellsar has had so much fun raising much-needed funds for charity. Whether it was baking or walking, all our staff, residents and even their family members collectively got into the giving spirit and raised an incredible amount for important causes. We’re delighted to see some of the funds go towards the millions of pounds needed to pay for Macmillan Nurses, who selflessly support people living with the disease every day.”

A cheque will be presented to the Alzheimer’s Society at a later date.

Well done to everyone again for raising so much money for two such worthy causes!
