The big day we’ve all been waiting for finally arrived this Monday and it was a day to remember here at Sonya Lodge Residential Care Home.
The atmosphere was all-round jolly and festive for Christmas day, and our residents enjoyed a lovely breakfast to start the day of croissants, a full English, cereals, yogurts and fruit.
There were lots of lovely family visits throughout the day, with some families venturing into our Christmas grotto for their festive visit.
The main event came – Christmas Lunch! Before actually tucking in, our residents enjoyed pulling Christmas crackers and exchanging jokes with one another. Starters came of homemade soup and different breads. The turkey dinners came out with all the essential trimmings – roast turkey, stuffing, pigs in blankets, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, different vegetables, gravy and sauces.
To wash this all down, we served a selection of different wines, sherry, port, beer, mulled wine, Baileys, juices and squash – followed by a choice of desserts, yule log, Christmas cake, crumble, mince pies and more!
After all this glorious food, it was present time! The presents sacks came out and it was raining wrapping paper. Our ladies and gentlemen opened beautiful gifts all together in the lounge and sang along to some Christmas music.
It was a fabulous day and it was enjoyed by everyone – our residents, team members and visitors! We already can’t wait for next year.
