A sense of community at Sonya Lodge Residential Care Home

Out and about

We all love getting involved here at Sonya Lodge Residential Care Home; we grab every opportunity to go out into the local community with our residents, and we like to invite members of the community into our Home.

Rosina enjoyed a trip to the local café for her favourite toast and coffee the week; she enjoyed spending some one-to-one time with our Recreation and Well-Being Team and talking to members of the public while she was out.

Joan and Pauline visited our local church, St Michaels, for the Sunday morning service. You can see from their smiling faces that they thoroughly enjoyed themselves as they were able to catch up with familiar faces from their church family.

A visit from the school

We had a special visit from some local pre-school children this week. They came in to help our residents make jam tarts to celebrate world pastry day. Our ladies and gents were in their element as they worked alongside the children to create these delicious treats; it was lovely to see the beautiful interactions between them and we all enjoyed the yummy tarts!

Reminiscence with babydolls

We also ran a baby bath time reminiscing session where some of our residents enjoyed bathing and dressing the dolls; they showed off their nurturing skills while reminiscing about doing this activity with their children.
