Sonya Lodge’s lovely Manager Jean Wright retired from the Home on Friday 12 June, after 26 years of service – and staff and residents gave her a week to remember!
Celebrations began in earnest on Monday, starting with an afternoon cream tea with staff and residents – with bunting, balloons and wonderful handmade banners lovingly made by residents.
Jean shed a few tears as staff cheered her into work during the week. They had fun making TikTok videos for her and boogying together at a Lodge disco on Wednesday. Jean also received a special personal video from all her staff on Thursday.
Her last day on Friday was celebrated with a BBQ in the garden. True ‘Brit style’ everyone embraced the unsettled weather as they presented Jean with gifts from relatives and colleagues – bubbles, flowers and gift vouchers to name a few! She also had special visits from Glenda Osmotherly, Gill Dixon, Jacqui Shuttleworth and Gill Redsell.
It was a very emotional week and everyone at Sonya Lodge will really miss Jean, who has been the heartbeat of the Home for so many wonderful years.
Wishing you a very happy retirement Jean, from everyone at Nellsar xxx
