Sonya Lodge Residential Care Home residents enjoy Jubilee afternoon tea at St Michaels Church

We were very honoured at Sonya Lodge Residential Care Home to be invited by St Michael’s Church to attend their Platinum Jubilee afternoon tea. They reserved us a complimentary table for six of our residents and some of our staff.

We walked together to the church hall and were welcomed in and shown to our beautifully laid table.

Each table setting had a small information leaflet about the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee – our residents loved these and wanted to keep them as mementos of the day. The leaflets also sparked many conversations as we all reminisced about the Queen’s reign so far and previous Jubilee celebrations we’ve attended.

The tea boasted a wide selection of sandwiches, homemade cakes and scones with jam and cream and our residents also enjoyed a glass of Prosecco or orange juice as we all raised a toast to the Queen.

Our residents loved every minute of the celebrations and chatting with members of our local community. We had so much food (we were all stuffed!) and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
