Well done to our residents and staff who created a stunning multi-layered sponge Showstopper cake for The Great Nellsar Cake Off competition, covered with lavender icing, piped florets and flower decorations.
Deanne and Jo from our Recreation and Well-Being Team commented;
“Here is our entry for the Nellsar Cake Off. This is an eight inch, six layer vanilla sponge cake with vanilla buttercream. Overall this took three hours to bake and around two hours to fully decorate.
It was a team effort involving all our residents from the planning stage. We voted on flavours, colours and styles, adding our own finishing touches to the final design. Pat A, Pat B, Ellen, Iris, Kathleen, Gabrielle, Maggie, Doris, Karen and Michael all helped to mix, crumb coat and decorate our cake.
The finished cake was absolutely delicious, with enough servings for all our residents, staff and some left over! It was thoroughly enjoyed at our weekly Coffee Morning.”
