This week, our residents at Sonya Lodge Residential Care Home had a wonderful time celebrating National Day of Arts in Care Homes. Our morning was spent getting creative, with everyone trying their hand at different artistic styles including aqua painting, watercolours, chalk drawings, and acrylic art. Our residents were so proud of their masterpieces – and rightly so!
In the afternoon, we took inspiration from the wider world of art with a virtual tour of the famous Louvre Museum in Paris. There was lots of excitement when we saw the Mona Lisa, which was much smaller than many of us expected! Some of our residents also took part in a fun quiz based on famous artists and their work, with extra bonus rounds covering music, theatre, literature, and film.
It was a truly inspiring day that reminded us just how uplifting and enjoyable the arts can be.
