We hosted our annual Macmillan Fundraiser at Sonya Lodge Residential Care Home and this year started off our event with a ‘Bake Off’ competition for our staff and residents!
We had a whopping 11 entries which ranged from large cakes to cupcakes and sweet pastry treats. Our residents worked together with our Activities Team to make a beautiful chocolate cake that was iced and decorated in the Macmillan green and purple colours.
One of our Chefs John, our Deputy Manager Abi, and Nellsar’s Recreation and Well-Being Manager Viv, judged our competition. They gave scores for taste and presentation and did not know who had made each entry.
It was a closely contested battle but…
- Our 1st prize went to our residents
- 2nd prize to Deanne (Recreation and Well-Being Team)
- 3rd prize to Vic (Recreation and Well-Being Team)
We invited in our residents’ families and friends in the afternoon for a raffle, coffee afternoon and cake sale to enjoy all of the scrumptious competition entries. Our residents loved the day and enjoyed spending time with their loved ones.
We had a fantastic day raising money for a wonderful cause and were over the moon to send Macmillan a grand total of £305.25!
