From model trains to seaside reminiscence at Sonya Lodge Residential Care Home

Gentlemen’s club and model railway exhibition

It was time for some male bonding at Sonya Lodge Residential Care Home recently, when our male residents could enjoy spending some quality time in each other’s company.

Our gents enjoyed building some toy vehicles together and putting their DIY skills to the test.

They then visited the model railway exhibition at St Michaels Church and were in awe of the array of different displays and stunning model landscapes that had been put together.

They thoroughly enjoyed chatting with the local residents and talking about trains they used to travel on in the past.

Sensory tray and arts and crafts

Our residents have also enjoyed some lovely sensory and craft activities lately.

Our sensory tray session was popular; we used a beach themed tray and our ladies and gents felt the sand, shells and stones whilst reminiscing with our Activities Team about trips and holidays to the seaside.

Our residents then worked hard with their creative talents to make decorations in preparation for our Macmillan fundraiser. They decorated signs with colouring pencils, foam stickers, glister, ribbon and lace. The finished creations looked absolutely stunning!
