From doughnuts to squirrels at Sonya Lodge Residential Care Home

We’ve had great fun with our residents at Sonya Lodge Residential Care Home over the past few weeks, enjoying the lovely weather and some sweet treats too!

Doughnut Day

We celebrated International Doughnut Day on Friday 4 June with a delicious selection of Krispy Kreme doughnuts, enjoyed with a cup of tea. Yummy!

Afternoon tea for the Queen

To celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s birthday on Saturday 12 June, we threw an afternoon tea party in the garden at our Home in the lovely sunshine. Our residents enjoyed lots of cups of tea, a selection of finger sandwiches, scones with cream and jam, Victoria sponge cake and chocolate eclairs.

Ice creams all round

The hot weather has also meant it has been perfect for ice cream! Our clever Recreation and Well-Being Champion Jo turned her activity trolley into an ice cream truck, with a selection of ice lollies and ice creams for our residents to enjoy. She even played ice cream truck music!

Celebrating France

We stopped in France as part of our ‘Around the World with Nellsar Cruise‘, with photo props and berets, including some of our staff members dress up in french attire.

We listened to love songs and had a dance in the afternoon, as Paris is known as the city of love.

Arts and crafts

Our residents recently enjoyed making some patchwork elephant pictures, by cutting and gluing different coloured card.

Furry friend

We’ve had an extra guest for lunch here at the Lodge recently. We stuck a bird feeder to one of our windows and a cheeky squirrel helped himself! It was great fun watching him eat and seeing him close up.
