It’s been a wonderfully busy week of festive fun here at Sonya Lodge Residential Care Home! Some of our residents enjoyed a lovely community trip to Hawley Garden Centre, where they admired the sparkling Christmas decorations and took the opportunity to pose for some cheerful seasonal photos.
Back at our Home, several of our residents showed off their creative flair by making, baking and constructing a stunning Christmas tree cookie tower. There were plenty of giggles as they tried to balance their edible masterpiece before enjoying it together with a well-deserved cup of tea.
We also had a truly special Christmas surprise for Roy, one of our residents and a lifelong Dartford Football Club fan. Thanks to our caring team member Charlotte, the Club kindly sent him a personalised Christmas card signed by every player! Roy was absolutely over the moon and said, “This is the best Christmas present!”
And to top off the week, we are so proud of our very own star-in-the-making, Angela, who gave her first live interview on BBC Radio Kent! Angela spoke beautifully to presenter Sophie about the ‘Nellsar Twelve Days of Christmas‘ choir and how much joy she gets from singing with her friends at our Home. She did an amazing job and received lots of messages of congratulations from both Sonya Lodge and Nellsar Head Office. Angela was thrilled – and joked that she’ll be charging for autographs soon!
