We had a ball celebrating the 79th Victory in Europe Day here at Sonya Lodge Residential Care Home.
We started our day with lots of party preparations, including bunting, tissue paper flowers, hats, banners and flags. At lunch time we joined our tables together to dine in street-party style, and enjoyed a proper British roast together with all the trimmings (as usual!).
For the afternoon, we planned a garden party but in true British fashion, the weather was not on our side…oh well! So we brought it indoors instead. Our amazing singer for the afternoon, Maxine, sang a medley of traditional English songs. We enjoyed songs by Vera Lynn, Shirley Bassey, Cliff Richard and many more.
The atmosphere throughout the day was superb a fabulous time was enjoyed by all; it wasn’t long before people were up and dancing. A few of our residents even got on the mic too!
We hope everyone around the nation enjoyed their VE day celebrations!
